Website Wednesday #16

We’re back with another WEBSITE WEDNESDAY… 💥

…featuring another top tip for your business website.

No.16: Ensure your website is ‘secure’.

A secure website, in this sense, means that any data exchanged via the site is encrypted, so can’t be intercepted. Secure sites have a ‘https://’ address, instead of a basic ‘http://’.

This is important for even the simplest of websites, as search engines, browsers and anti-virus software really don’t like non-secure sites. Users will often be warned not to proceed onto the site, and they’ll see a ‘Not Secure’ warning triangle in the address bar. Your customers don’t want to see this!

To fix this issue, ask your website host provider about installing an SSL certificate. Some charge a small fee, but others will be free. Once installed, update all your internal links and set up a ‘301 redirect’ from http to https.

Keep a lookout for a whole range of WEBSITE WEDNESDAY tips, all with the aim of attracting more site visitors and sales for your business. And if you’d like to propose a topic, just comment below.
