No.18: Write about *you*…
It doesn’t matter if you’re just starting up or if you’re now an established small business. Publish a page on your website that talks about you and your experience, training and qualifications. And if you’re a larger business, create a page that features some of your customer-facing staff (including those who answer the phone).
If done well, this will help to portray your professionalism, your credibility and your approachability. Allow each bio to include personality. How much depends on your business sector and target audience, but consider writing about your ambitions, beliefs, overcoming obstacles and any awards or great feedback.
Some further tips for your ‘About’ page. Include photos showing some of your best work or even a video. The video needn’t include any dialogue or be professionally produced… you could show the process of manufacturing or packaging your products, of loading your van, or a time-lapse of work being completed on location. Videos like this are great for your social media profiles too.
