No.27: Check what Google’s AI knows about you.
You’ll have seen this already… Google’s AI-generated search results, at the top of the page when you are searching for information. They’re called AI Overviews. But what if the information about your business is wrong?
Test it out now:
- Try searching for some basic facts, e.g. What are “Site Review UK” services/products? (but swapping in the name of your own business).
- Then try some more in-depth searches based on your services/products, e.g. Can “Site Review UK” help with my customer conversions? or Who writes “Website Wednesday” posts in the UK?
- Also try searching for opinions, e.g. Is “Site Review UK” reliable? or Can “Site Review UK” be trusted? (again with your business name).
How is Google finding this information? It’s mostly compiled from the written content you have on your key web pages *and* the hidden SEO metadata assigned to each page. If your content and SEO are badly-written, or hard for Google to find, the AI-generated information could be wrong, which could negatively affect your business.
