No.25: Make it easy for people to contact you.
It’s obviously important that your prospective customers/clients can easily contact you. But unfortunately, you need to make it harder for spambots to do the same.
Spambots are designed by scammers to crawl vast numbers of websites, searching for email addresses and telephone numbers, to potentially use for phishing attacks, sending malicious software or unwanted calls.
The best advice now is not to use clickable ‘mailto:’ email addresses or ‘tel:’ telephone numbers. Instead, there are ways to mask your actual contact details from the spambots.
Another good alternative is to set up a simple contact form, including a CAPTCHA step to ensure that the responder is human.
