Covid-19 Special. It’s been an awful few months, seeing the numbers of deaths rise in the UK and worldwide, the impact of the lockdown on children and families, and the financial effects for businesses and employees. There have been some highlights of course, like clapping for the NHS and key workers every Thursday – and the fundraising by Captain Tom and others. As for Site Review UK, after an initial slump in enquiries at the start of the lockdown, I’m pleased to say that I have been busy with new clients again. Here’s my latest news.
Business open as usual
Like most companies in March, I added a new section to my home page explaining the impact of the coronavirus… that I am a sole trader, self-isolating, but still open for business.
Fortunately, my work does not require me meeting face-to-face with clients – and I highlighted this in my regular Facebook posts. I sought, in particular, to help independent traders moving their businesses online, and was able to offer a 20% discount for coronavirus-hit small businesses, until 29 May 2020.
My website content reviews and SEO audits are helping an increasing number of small businesses, mostly in Devon but some further afield. The Spring and Summer months have seen me working with four new clients, with interest shown by another five companies.
Please help spread the word about my services. You can follow me on Facebook via @SiteReviewUK to help keep in touch. Facebook followers as well as clients can benefit from my ongoing referral reward scheme, which provides unlimited £10 cashback rewards for any referrals that lead to new work.
New service – REMINDER
A reminder that I now provide a new service – for no extra charge – that will save you hassle and time.
It’s optional, but if you are happy to temporarily give me access to your website interface, then I will make all the necessary updates myself. And I’ll explain everything that I’ve done, in my report, so you’ll have the knowledge if you wish to make similar updates yourself in the future.
This has worked particularly well for five clients now. Two are WordPress users, like me, but the other three own websites built using WIX, which provided a good learning opportunity. Needless to say, WIX has a good interface and it was easy for me to pick up.
So, if you find you don’t have time to implement my suggested updates – or if you don’t wish to pay your website developer to do it – you can now ask me!
Spring clean and my Spring campaigns
I performed a Spring clean of my Facebook business page, updating my profile information and the main banner ‘cover images’ at the top of the page. Thank you to PKM Digital for their advice on this, delivered via a Zoom-based training event in May.
The coronavirus put a stop to many of my planned topical awareness campaigns this Spring (and Summer)… those targeted around sporting events like the Champions League final, Tour de France and Wimbledon. I did post an advertising campaign around the Cheltenham Festival and a cheeky celebration of St Patrick’s Day just before the lockdown. Follow @SiteReviewUK on Facebook to keep right up to date.
Stay safe everyone. More soon, Simon
